ABA

Excellent ABA therapy has been developed through decades of research. The field of behavior analysis has developed teaching techniques that are proven to increase meaningful behaviors and decrease those that interfere with learning. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) takes these interventions and applies them to improve socially significant behaviors; this in turn improves children's capacity to interact meaningfully in the world around them. There are a number of behavior-based and empirically supported treatments used in treating individuals with autism and neurodevelopmental disorders including Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) and Discrete Trial Training (DTT).

ABA

Systematic application of interventions to increase socially significant behaviors and reduce barrier behaviors that impede an individual's ability to learn.

Pivotal Response Treatment

A method of treatment that aims to provide opportunities for learning within the natural environment and targets pivotal behaviors that lead to collateral areas of improvement. The outcome is overall improvement in capabilities.

Discrete Trial Training

A method of ABA treatment in which skills are broken down into component parts and taught using specific antecedents, prompting procedures and consequences to maximize successes and minimize failures.

ICAN's ABA clinical team is composed of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT). While staying firmly founded in the principles of ABA, the team collaborates with multiple disciplines including speech, occupational, and physical therapists.
