iLearn

Using Technology to Enhance Communication, Participation and Learning

LCA’s iLearn Program is an opportunity to use the latest iPad/iPhone/iPod technology to increase your child’s independent participation in home, school, and community environments.

iLearn Program

Many children could benefit from additional supports throughout the day.  Some of the supports iLearn can offer are computer/iPad/iPod Touch applications for:

  • Visual Schedules- help your child prepare for the day’s activities and transition more easily from one activity to the next.
  • Social Stories- help your child understand what to expect in a particular situation or to understand what is expected of him/her.  Social stories can increase a child’s independence with activities of daily living (ADLs) and level of peer interaction.
  • Communication – increase your child’s ability to express likes/dislikes and wants/needs, engage in peer play activities and participate in school or community activities.
  • Positive Behavior Support – technology can be a strong motivator for many children and using motivating activities, we can work on increasing positive behaviors like turn taking, participation, and shared attention.
  • Educational/Learning – using the motivation of technology, we can work on academic skills like increasing vocabulary, basic number skills, and literacy skills.
  • Fun & Games – Playing games is a great time for increasing engagement and sharing in something fun with your child.
